While it is easy to fall in love with the concept of AI and the social good, the reality tell us that ‘all that glitters is not gold’. From my job at the IADB I work with Latin American and Caribbean countries to promote the use and adoption of responsible IA I have learnt that if we want to combat inequality with technology, first we need to eliminate bias and incorporate ethics.

Of course, this includes issues of gender equality. I will talk in my presentation about what is happening in the public policy arena, how ethics must be included in every part of the system and how bias are there even before data is collected.
