Abdullahi Abdulkadri is a Social Affairs Officer and past Coordinator of the Statistics and Social Development Unit of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. He has led the regional commission’s technical assistance to Caribbean countries on statistical capacity building, including the establishment of national statistical system and the implementation, follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals. Prior to joining ECLAC, Mr. Abdulkadri was Professor of Applied Economics at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, where he served as the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in the Faculty of Social Sciences.Â
He has conducted studies on the use of big data for official statistics and recently completed a review of statistical legislation of Caribbean countries.
